Cody Hoyt
Heavy Vessel
November 2014
Brooklyn-based artist Cody Hoyt shifted his studio practice from very complex, Constructivist inspired painting to functional ceramics about two years ago. He is now making large scale vessels which allow him to bring his drawn compositions into three dimensions. Hoyt describes his practice as process-based, involving rigorously drawing each piece, hand-marbling clay, and constructing highly-individualized formwork to bring together precise, geometric forms and elaborate patterns.
