Christopher Kurtz
Sculptures of Furniture: A Windsor Alphabet
September 6 - October 13, 2018
Patrick Parrish Gallery is pleased to present our inaugural solo exhibition by Christopher Kurtz. Drawing from the iconic eighteenth-century Birdcage Windsor chair, Kurtz extrapolates and reimagines the chair’s features and decorative conventions as monumental objects. Amplified from traditional furniture ornamentation into conspicuous forms on an architectural scale, Kurtz creates sculptures whose subject, like furniture, is shifted back to the human figure.
