Nakajima Yasumi II

NAKAJIMA YASUMI II (1905 - 1986) was born in Osaka, Japan, and was the eldest son of the metal artist Nakajima Yasumi I, a founder of the Osaka Craft Group. Yasumi II graduated from the National School of Industrial art of Sendai in 1932. One year after, his work was exhibited in prestigious exhibitions, such as the Export Crafts Exhibition in Japan and the Grand Salon in Paris. Starting in 1939 he regularly participated in government-promoted exhibitions like the Shin Bunten and later the Nitten, where he won many prizes for his craft. Yasumi II is particularly famous for his abstract design and his mastery of patina techniques.
