Shiotsuki Juran

SHIOTSUKI JURAN (1948 - 2016) was a Japanese craftsman who worked predominantly bamboo. Born in Meihama-cho, Seiyo City, Ehime Prefecture, Juran graduated from Beppu Advanced Vocational Training School in 1975, and studied under Ichihara Kaunsai. From 1976 onwards, he has exhibited his work at the Japan Modern Crafts Exhibition, the Seibu Crafts Exhibition, the Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition, the Nitten, and the Daisan bunmei art exhibition, and received many awards. In 1980, he was awarded the Japan Crafts Chairman’s Prize at the Seibu Kogei Exhibition. Awarded the Silver Prize at the Tanko “Tea Ceremony Art Exhibition for Tomorrow” in 1990. In 1995, he was awarded the Crafts Chairman's Prize at the Japan Sencha Crafts Exhibition and was invited to exhibit work at the “Japan Crafts Today” 100th Exhibition in Paris in 1999.
