Patrick Parrish Gallery is pleased to present Garden Party, the first solo show by New York and Medellín-based artist Chris Wolston. Wolston’s work explores material culture in the age of globalization by adapting traditional material practices—such as brick-making and sand-casting—to unusual contemporary applications. Inspired by the ubiquitous functionality of pre-Columbian ceramic vessels, as well as banal indoor-outdoor plastic furniture, Wolston creates functional sculptures in uncharted material landscapes. Garden Party presents a new collection of handmade terra-cotta furniture works, which can function simultaneously as garden planters and as seats for enjoying a cocktail next to the pool!
