Wind lantern by Carl Auböck made of cane and cast and hammered brass. Designed in 1935, the wind shield was hammered for hours from a single sheet of brass over a steel ball. The surface of the brass augments the light from the candle and protects it from breezes. A Bauhaus student, post WWI, Auböck designed over 5,000 modernist objects that demonstrate expert craftsmanship in brass, leather, wood and horn.
