From the estate of A. Lawrence Kocher, this extremely rare maple wood side table was built by Kocher while teaching woodworking at Black Mountain College. Two intersecting boards establish a stable base upon which Kocher has placed a third board as a rectangular table surface, reflecting Kocher's Bauhaus commitment to imbuing simple modernist structures with warmth, domesticity and practicality.
