Bertjan Pot

BERTJAN POT is a Dutch designer who specializes in furniture, lighting, and home products. Pot strives to position the materials that he uses in his work as the central focus, believing that the experimentation with materials in a piece can be one of the most critical yet overlooked aspects of the design process. This fascination for structures, patterns, and colors guides Pot’s work, with most of his experiments starting quite impulsively and following a curiosity for how certain things would function or how something would look. From there, Pot takes on challenges with or without manufacturers to explore possibilities and push the boundaries a bit. To Pot, the reward for each challenge is a new one.

Pot’s work can be found in The Victoria & Albert Museum in London, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Rotterdam, and the MoMA in New York. He has worked with companies such as Arco, Cassina, Febrik, Hay, and Nike.
