Patrick Parrish Gallery is pleased to present Heavy Vessel, a show that will spotlight Brooklyn-based artist Cody Hoyt's fantastic ceramics. Hoyt shifted his studio practice from very complex, Constructivist-inspired painting to functional ceramics about two years ago. He is now making large-scale vessels that allow him to bring his drawn compositions into three dimensions. Hoyt describes his practice as process-based, involving rigorously drawing each piece, hand-marbling clay, and constructing highly-individualized formwork to bring together precise, geometric forms and elaborate patterns.
