Stian Korntved Ruud

STIAN KORNTVED RUUD’S practice stems from a fascination with the processes by which products are made and put together. Drawing on a personal history of experimenting on, modifying, repairing, and routinely destroying the objects around him, Ruud is motivated by a desire to exhaust the physical and utilitarian limits of a given idea or material. Using “enforced properties,” his projects frequently verge on the ritualistic pursuit of those limits.

Ruud graduated from the Product Design department at Oslo and Akershus University College, as well as the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, followed by an internship with Tom Dixon in London. In addition to several gallery shows, he has exhibited in the Salone del Mobile, Milan; Maison&Object, Paris; the Stockholm Furniture Fair; EuroDesignExhibiiton, Dusseldorf; ICFF and the Collective Design Fair, New York, among many others. His work is part of the permanent collections of the KODE Art Museums, Bergen, and the National Museum of Decorative Arts and Design, Trondheim.
